Server / Desktop Virtualization Services

Server Virtualization

Server virtualization is a method of partitioning a physical server into multiple "virtual" servers such that each has the appearance and capabilities of running on its own dedicated physical machine. Each virtual server can run its own full operating system/applications and each virtual server can be independently managed. There are many benefits to consolidating the number of physical servers in your environment by taking advantage of server virtualization technologies:

  • Reduce hardware maintenance costs with lower number of physical servers.
  • Server consolidation creates better space utilization efficiencies in your server room or data center.
  • By having each application within its own "virtual server", you can prevent one application from impacting another application when upgrades or changes are made.
  • You can develop a standard virtual server build that can be easily duplicated and speed up server deployment.
  • You can deploy multiple operating system technologies on a single hardware platform (i.e. Windows Server 2003, Linux, Windows 2000, etc).
  • Lower overall total costs of ownership for your IT infrastructure.

Desktop Virtualization

Desktop virtualization is the decoupling of a user's physical machine from the desktop and software that he or she uses to work. Virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) is a server-centric computing model that borrows from the traditional thin-client model but is designed to give system administrators and end-users the best of both worlds...the ability to host and centrally manage desktop virtual machines in the server room or data center while giving end users a full PC desktop experience. Advantages of desktop virtualization include:

  • Instant provisioning of new desktops
  • Near-zero downtime in the event of hardware failures
  • Significant reduction in the cost of new application deployment
  • Robust desktop image management capabilities
  • Normal 2-3 year PC refresh cycle extended to 5-6 years or more
  • Existing desktop-like performance including multiple monitors, bi-directional audio/video, streaming video, USB support etc.
  • Ability to access the users' enterprise desktop environment from any PC (including the employee's home PC)
  • Improved security and centralized management

Client Feedback

"ETS was vital in implementing our thin client environment, providing us with the products and support we needed to take our business to the next level."

Travis Ambrosy, IT Director
Cardiovascular Consultants

"ETS was so certain about the benefits we would see, they put together a business case where I really had nothing to lose. Even though I had my doubts, ETS was really willing to back up their recommendation and their work. You just don’t see that anymore."
